インドでは、象を飼う時に、象の足をロープで杭につなぐそうです。
象の力をもってすれば、その杭を抜いて逃げることは簡単なのですが、
象たちは杭を抜こうとしないのです。
象たちは、子像のころからその杭につながれています。
そして、子像のころ何度も杭を抜こうと試みて抜けなかったので、
自分にその杭を抜くことはできないと思っているのです。
大人になって杭を抜く力がついているにもかかわらず・・・
私たち人間も、子どものころに信じ込んだことに影響を受けています。
子どものころに「できない」「無理だ」と信じ込んだことが、今も私たちを
制限している可能性があります。
